FAQs
There are a number of questions that seem to come up at
fairly regular intervals, so we've set them out below (with answers!) in
case you were thinking of asking one of them... How
many web sites have you built?
Loads and loads. We haven't kept count and don't like to think about it.
There are over 50 examples on the
Previous Work page. How much do you charge for a website?
That depends on what you want. Websites can range from a single page to a
virtually unlimited number, so it's impossible to say without knowing a
bit more about the project and requirements. The majority of websites we
build are in the £1000 to £10000 range, all subject to VAT of course.
How long does it normally take to build a basic commercial website?
Another impossible one. Almost every web site is different in its own way,
so we just can't say until we know what's involved. It also depends on
what else we are working on at the time. We are always
completely realistic about timescales. Do you work on a
fixed fee basis?
Once we have a good idea of what's involved we can usually come up with a
pretty accurate figure. If this needs to be fixed in advance and we think
it's possible, we'll do it. Does it matter where my
website is hosted?
Not usually, although if it's a commercial site we'd be a bit wary of
using free web space from certain providers as there are no guarantees of
service. Hosting is comparatively cheap these days so we feel it's worth
spending a few pounds for something a little more reliable.
I've already registered a domain name elsewhere. Can you use it?
Yes indeed. Provided you've kept your registration documentation, it
shouldn't be too much of a problem. If I want a website that needs
to be updated on a regular basis, will you do it?
Yes if that's what you'd prefer, or we can talk about various options for
how you can update it yourself. It's up to you. Can you
incorporate Flash animation into websites?
Yes we can do Flash. We don't use it all that often, as most of the
websites we build are for businesses who are more interested in good
search engine positioning. Too much Flash lessens your chances of doing
well with Google, for example. Can I
speak to any of your existing/former clients to see what they think of
you?
Fine by us. If you visit one via the example sites page, no doubt the
contact details will be there and if they're not too busy we're sure our
clients will give you an honest opinion. Alternatively, we can give you
some names and numbers. Can you help on general IT
matters?
Sometimes. We like to stick to what we're best at, but we do have a fair
number of contacts in the IT industry so we may be able to put you in
touch with someone better equipped. What happened to
the lovely photos of fruit that were on your last website?
We got bored with them. |
